THE WORDS OF JESUS CHRIST AND THE POWER OF THE CROSS

As I was thinking of a related hymn for this comment, this is what came to my mind when I saw this little note in my writing journal - the difference between Advent and Lent for Christians.  Well, I concluded that there is not a big difference between the two seasons (we are celebrating life, death, and JESUS).

During Christmas (I am still getting over the last one) we were looking forward to the birth of Jesus (The coming of the King of all kings) and the implications of humanity.  This center around the forgiveness of God, His compassion, and His love for humanity.

Advent/Lent:  Love for humanity demonstrated in the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

During Lent (another significant time for me) we are preparing for the resurrection of Jesus (The second coming of the King of all kings).   We prepare for the cross through praying, fasting, meditating upon how Jesus defeat and overcome sin and death on humanity.

THE TRIUMPHAL ENTRY

“The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,

Hosanna to the Son of David!”

“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”

                “Hosanna in the highest!”

When Jesus entered the Temple and the chief priests and teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.  “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him.

“Yes,” replied Jesus, “Have you never read, “’ From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise’?”  And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.” (Matthew 21:12-17).

ANOTHER FAVORITE HYMN OF CHRIST’S GRACIOUS LIFE

ALL GLORY, LAUD, AND HONOR

“All glory, laud, and honor, to thee, Redeemer, King,

To whom the lips of children made sweet hosannas ring.

Thou art the King of Israel, thou David’s royal Son, who in the Lord’s name comes, the King and Blessed One.”

Our Father, during this Passion Week and on this beautiful Palm Sunday, we say thank you for your great and true love, demonstrated through the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  You are our God and we will praise and worship you.  We exalt your name.  Thank you for Jesus Christ; our Lord and Savior.   I pray that the blessing of God be with you always
